Aloha Everyone,
Here are the pictures of the lei and card of part a of "Our Project"
I hope everyone is pleased with what I put together. Part A of "our Project" was a Welcoming of Aloha to Hiro on his arrival to Hawaii. I did my best and I hoped everyone is okay with it.
We were very lucky that Reiko was able to confirm his arrival. This set the project in motion and I was able to complete everything this past weekend.
This package was delivered today. Let's cross our fingers to see if we get a response.
The lei pictures display the process from beginning to end. I used white dendrobiem orchids and the heart leaf of purple dendrobiem orchids. The completed lei was wrapped in a t-leaf bundle and I used the left over flowers as a bow. This is really an elegant lei. You use so many flowers, but the end resullt is so beautiful and regal.
The card is a follows:
Front - floral scene of purple dendrobiem orchids
Inside right - graphic of a lei with aloha and welcome
Inside left - General message of Best Wishes from everyone and a list
of the world-wide websites
Back cover - poem written by Emily from Taiwan
It was all so very exciting and I was happy to do this for everyone. After all of this, I feel a little emotionally drained but, still very happy.
Huge Hiro hugs to all.
Aloha...Asha |

asha dear....
OMG. how TRULY stunning this gift is!!! every detail is perfection... from the floral choices, the assembly of the lei, the T leaf wrapping, and the card! it's so lovely to imagine hiro's heart being filled with the LOVE that went into your (and your aunts) creative efforts.
emily chan's poem for LOST....SO clever, so charming, in expressing the feelings of affection, pride, and support for him, that we all feel! i love that poem, emily. THANK you so much!
absolutely AMAZING job, asha. thank you SO MUCH for helping to bring aloha spirit to hiro on behalf of his worldwide fans! please extend heartfelt thanks to your aunt and the ladies who were involved with this project for "THE PRETTY ONE". (just LOVE that).

the lei was presented to hiro on tuesday evening.
my friend (bob) gave it to the cast coordinator, (jess) who personally presented it to hiro.
i had asked bob if he could maybe have jess get a picture of hiro wearing the lei, so we could post it on the forums. i didn't REALLY think it could happen, but figured it was worth a try. (it did NOT happen, lest you get your hopes up). but we did TRY.
i know that it is a disappointment, after the beautiful picture he gave to us, autographed, 2 years ago, that we are only being given 'messages' from hiro. but i wanted to let you all know that these words to the fans, ARE hiro's.
and to be able to have an 'up close and personal' accounting of what
transpired with the lei is REALLY wonderful, because we will NOT have this with his birthday gift this year.
i heard from my contact and she said that hiro's travel schedule keeps changing, so she's uncertain WHERE he will be on his bday, so she is definitely going to SEND it this year, and NOT hand deliver it.
so because of asha's lovely idea and gesture to create that gorgeous lei, (and the serendipitous, COMPLETE STROKE OF LUCK that my friend bob happens to work on LOST) we DID get a brief 'connection' with hiro again this year.
this is bob's email to me, and he asked that i pass this on to all of you:
Quote: Jess just came in to tell me about giving the Lei to Hiro.
She reported he was very grateful, surprised and happy to receive the lei.
he did a small bow and told her that he wanted to make
sure his fans were aware of his sincere appreciation.
He said he was sorry about the photo, but due to the secret nature of
the show, he felt he should not have a photo taken.
Jess said he was very very gracious and extremely thankful to his fans.
i know that bob AND jess did go out of their way to ask about the pic...
but his role is SO guarded, that none of us thought it could happen.
they both said they were so sorry, but they tried!
btw, i got the impression that hiro was in 'character' when jess gave it to him, so that could also be a factor.
anyway, THANK YOU AGAIN, ASHA, for your time, and talent to allow hiro's international fans this WONDERFUL and BEAUTIFUL gesture of aloha spirit.

Thanks for the update, Reiko.
Sorry to hear the picture did not happen, but under the circumstances I can understand why.

What a marvelous gift. Asha, You Are so Great. Please, thanks your aunt for us. How beautiful it is. You must spend all day long to make the lei. Nowonder Sanada-san was surprised and touched. He must never get such a beautiful lei. What a unforgetable aloha-style gift.
Wonderful and excellent.
Thanks for asha, asha's aunt, reiko, Misty, Jamie, and "Bob and Jesse" .
I am excited to wait for our second gift.
Love all of you. |

Aloha Sakelvr
Thank you for your comment on the lei. It turned out really nice and, honestly, better then I thought it would. Somehow, the lei angels
were all helping me along that day.
