Hello Everyone, this is my first post..I have been checking in on this site for a while now but today felt compelled to register...because today for some odd reason I TIVO'ed Oprah, which is very weird for me, as i don't usually watch it.. Well am I glad I did..her show was about international celebraties,People she considers the most famous around the world..about half way thru the show doesn't she mention Hiro Did anyone else see this? She called him the Tom Cruise of Japan..and mentioned his work with Tom in The Last Samurai. I'm hoping everyone got to see it... |

Well, we all know what happens when Oprah loves a book...
Lets keep our fingers crossed that this creates lots of buzz.
BTW, Reiko, has this had an impact on his star meter/imdb.com
OMG, so exciting!!!!!!

Unfortunetly it wasn't a long segment, They had shown his picture and said that he had been acting since he was 5 yrs old and that he had gone head to head with Tom Cruise in TLS..no mention of his role on Lost. or any other films...who knows maybe we'll get lucky someday and actually appear on the show..or any talk show for that matter Oh well one can only hope, I must go I'm at work |

babe jo, thx so much for explaining...
but as sakelvr so RIGHTLY points out...... even the tiniest mention (with image!?! omg....AND linking him with the TOM CRUISE superstar - no matter how tarnished that had become-)...is AWESOME!
and FOR SURE, sakelvr...miss O....well, O-M-G. when SHE brands you as one to watch for ....
doesn't it just FEEL like he's on the brink????
we've all waited sooooooooo long, for hollywood to recognize the scope of his talent.....
(HIRO FANS SPEAKING OUT......... "hiro is the BEST, by george!!!!")
it's gonna be FUN to watch his starmeter next year, yes?
babe jo...one last question on the show....was it about RISING international stars, or 'one's to watch' or....? (sorry to bombard you on your first outing!) hee hee. |

Bombard away Reiko, I'll Share what I can.
Oprah's show was about the most famos celebrities around the globe, her guest were Chen Lu Yu, she is considered the oprah of China, she was via satelite, then appearing on the show was bollywood couple Abhishek Bachchan & Aishwary Rai (spelling?) and also a polo player ( who may I add was very good looking) his name is Nacho Figueras. but in between guests Oprah would give mention to other celebs considered the most famous from their own countries. then all of a sudden bam there was a picture of Hiro and he was called the Tom Cruise of Japan..I wouldn't in a million Years compare him to Tom Cruise personally...He is sooooooo far beyond TC..there really is no comparison...But that being said..Apparently Oprah or her People who did the research thought that Hiro was worth the mention
I was waiting for her to say something about Ken Watanabe, so imagine my surprise when Hiros name came up WOO HOO!!! |

Earlier today I went to the Oprah site trying to get more info or IMAGES.
So Reiko you could drop by her site and see some portions of yesterday's show -- just won't see Hiro.
Or at least I couldn't find any segment showing him.
I just wonder WHICH PHOTO --"our birthday/keep running photo from last year" hope, hope, hope!!!!!!

Saklvr,
it wasn't last years B'day picture. I think it was the second picture from the left in the header of the web gallery. It was so quick, but I do remember he had shorter hair and was wearing a light colored jacket in the photo.
I was in shock when Ophrah mentioned him, so please forgive me..
I cannot wait for next year. I truely hope that being 'Lost' will finally give him the exposure he so much deserves. |

It's great that Hiro was recognized by someone as big as Oprah, but I'm not all that bothered on whether he gains more exposure or not, as long as he continues his great acting...
I actually would rather he go back to Japan, where he's not delegated to sub par roles. (like in Speedracer)
That's probably just me though...
This is still great news, regardless! |

OMG Jo Babe
Thank you so much for the "heads up" regarding Hiro being mentioned on Oprah. I watched the show this pm and at 4:42 pm Hawaii time, there was "our guy". There were some really great pictures of him too. What a great way to end the year. Thank you so much for staying on this and sharing this bit of info with those of us in Sanada-land.
Have a great New Year. Best wishes and many blessings to you and your family.
Aloha..Asha |
